The Most Convenient Way to Shop for Cat Food & Supplies #OneStopKittyShop

I am a Mom of 6, with that being said; time is something I don’t have a lot of.  I try to consolidate my trips as much as I can, if I have to go to a major store and they also have a car port; I will do an oil change while I shop and so on.  Same with my grocery shopping, I try to shop for everything I can while I am there.  That’s how I found The Most Convenient Way to Shop for Cat Food & Supplies #OneStopKittyShop

As a Family of 8, you know that I spend a lot of time at grocery stores, but I make the best of it with my shopping list.

The Most Convenient Way to Shop for Cat Food & Supplies #OneStopKittyShop

My store of choice is always Stop & Shop, it’s not only the closest store to my house, but the prices are better than the other competitors.  I make one list for the Family’s food and supplies, and one list for our pets.

The fact that I can make sure I get everything I need for my pets, while I am grocery shopping is such an advantage. [Read more…]

Family game night left us Speechless…

Family game night left us Speechless...

We received an advanced copy of #Speechless for review, all opinions are my own.

Family game night left us Speechless…

Family game night left us Speechless...

Family game night has become a tradition in our house, and it’s not only for our immediate Family members. Cousins, Aunities, Friends, and my Daughter’s friends all come over for or game night. They are always excited to play, whether it’s an old classic, or a new one.

This weekend the kids had a friendship celebration at our house, it’s a once in a month get together so they can see each other and spend time together; now that many of them go to different Schools.  It is always so fun to have them at the house at once, and game night is always required by them.

Family game night left us Speechless...

This time we played a new game that Arcane Wonders sent us for a Pre-release review, it’s called Speechless; and it was so much fun!
The kids had to act out 6 words individually, and the rest of the kids had to guess them. 2 points for the correct words guessed, and 1 point for each wrong answer that was guessed by more than one person.  The amount of laughter that was coming out of my house could literally be heard two houses away.
Family game night left us Speechless...

Family game night left us Speechless...
Family game night left us Speechless...

We played three different rounds of Speechless, we had so much fun that we will all be sore tomorrow; and it’s definitely a game that won a place on our favorite games
cabinet!

Speechless is a silent game of guessing the words that are being acted out, it is for everyone; from children to adults.  Our Family loved it, and  we look forward to playing it again very soon.

I recently shared with you a fun new game that my family had an opportunity to try called Wisdomantics. Wisdomantics is a really fun, family friendly game that allows players to gain the wisdom of King Solomon. This game has become one of my go to games, it helped keep my family sane on a long road trip and has since become one of our all time favorites. This is why I was excited about writing this post: Wisdomantics Family Game Q&A w/Creator and iPad Air 2 Giveaway, because not only can I share about how much I have actually enjoyed having this game, enjoyed my Q&A with Darrell, but also so happy about our giveaway this month.

Wisdomantics Saved Our Road Trip and Giveaway!

Wisdomantics Saved Our Road Trip and Giveaway!

Wisdomantics Saved Our Road Trip and Giveaway!

This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Wisdomantics.   All opinions are 100% mine.

Child #1 “Mom, tell her to stop touching me!

Child #2 ” I’m not touching him!!”

Child #3 “I’m bored”

Child #4 “Daddy,  I’m hungry!”

If you have a large family then you know how the rest of this conversation goes. Someone is always bored, hungry, needing to use the bathroom, bickering, so sleepy and the list goes on and on. So no matter where we are going, if there is any period of time when we are all going to be confined to one space, I need something to keep everyone happy and occupied. Happy, occupied kids lead to calm, stress free parents and that is always the goal, am I right?

A couple of weeks ago we decided to take a road trip and visit some family that lives a few hours away. So, we packed our bags and some fun stuff for the kids to do in the car along with some snacks to save money and minimize stopping as much as possible. Each kid has their own bag with their snacks and a variety of things to stay busy with. Coloring books, puzzles, travel games, crayons and pencils are perfect for taking along on a road trip. This ensures that everyone has something that they like to do and they can entertain themselves for part of the trip.

We hit the road and the first hour of our trip was smooth and quiet. Everyone was doing their own thing, my husband was driving and I was enjoying the bicker free zone!  Then we arrived at our destination and everyone was smiling and happy.  LOL, just kidding! By the time the second hour of our little road trip began so did the bickering. All I know is someone kicked someone else, voices started to rise and then there was a stinky fart that nobody would claim ownership of.  As I opened the window and gasped for some fresh air,  I remembered.  I reached into my bag and pulled out the iPad. That got the kid’s attention and of course they wanted to know what I was doing. Well, I had remembered that I brought the iPad along because I installed a game that we could all play together while we were in the car on our trip.

wisdomantics

Wisdomantics is an awesome game from Kingdom Games Enterprises, LLC and we were given the opportunity to try it out and have some good, clean family fun! I love games like this because there are so many games out there that are too grown up for my little ones and too childish for my big ones. When I find a game that the whole family can play, I seriously feel like I hit the jackpot. Wisdomantics is definitely a big win for us because even the youngest kids can play along with help from me, dad or a sibling. The colorful graphics in the game were really bright and we love the whole look of the game.

wisdomantics

I love that the game is easy to learn so that you can start playing right away. My favorite thing about Wisdomantics is that it has options to play against the computer, which is great for someone who is alone while playing and also to play against accutane online without rx other players online. Our favorite option is the Pass & Play game. This is a multiplayer game for people that are together. Everyone gets to take a turn and then pass it to the next player. This works perfectly for our big family! You can choose 2 to 4 player so we formed teams of 2 so that we could all play at the same time.

wisdomantics

In Wisdomantics, you learn the wisdom of King Solomon. The goal of the game is to impart this wisdom in each player so that they can learn to apply it to their real lives. There are 400 multiple choice questions in the game that are based on the book of Proverbs in the Holy Bible. I love that my kids were having so much fun playing that they didn’t realize that they were learning important lessons from the Bible at the same time. Now, anyone who knows me know that I am a huge believer that learning should be fun and that kids learn the most when they are getting a genuine sense of enjoyment from their activities. When you play for yourself you will feel that Wisdomantics was made with this belief in mind. My kids love it and ask to play during family game night now and I love seeing them use what they learned in their daily activities.

wisdomantics

Since we first played Wisdomantics on our road trip, it has fast become a family favorite. It has definitely saved my butt a few times when we ended up stuck in traffic or in a crowded doctor’s office waiting room. It’s a fun game that keeps my kids quiet and happily busy for a while and because of this I never leave home without the iPad anymore. I never know when we might

need it and it’s a game I can feel good about as a parent.

wisdomantics

Wisdomantics is available in the ios app store and will soon be available on Android devices.

In our home we welcome Spring with Dreft #DreftSpring & Giveaway

by Lily @militaryfamof8

This is part of a sponsored collaboration with DiMe Media and Dreft.  All opinions are 100% mine.

Dreft detergent #DreftSpring

I used Dreft for the first time when my baby brothers were born in 1986, then in 1993 when my first child was born.  It was an unspoken and demanding rule among ALL the Mothers I knew, that Dreft was the detergent you had to use when you had babies.  I used it, I LOVED the “baby smell” it had, it was recognizable everywhere.
In 2000 I was pregnant with our 3rd child and she decided to arrive early and surprised us at 30 weeks, I remember as soon as I left the hospital; I stopped at the store and bought a bottle of Dreft.  I washed everything that belonged to her, and that was the norm until she was almost one year old.20141220_095104

As we were at my Mom’s house preparing for her first birthday party, she spilled juice all over herself, my Mom took her party outfit and washed it in time for her party.  As the guests were arriving I dressed her up, and we went to celebrate.  About 2 hours later, my Aunt came to ask my what had bit the baby all over her face; naturally I went to see and the baby was covered in hives and her lips and eyes were swollen.  As a “new Mother” for the third time, I panicked and rushed her to the emergency room, they gave her allergy medication and kept her for several hours until she was okay.  That night when we put her to sleep at my Mom’s house, I kept checking on her every 15 minutes and within two hours she was having another allergic reaction; back to the hospital we went.
The doctors couldn’t understand what she was allergic to and suggested that maybe my Mother had mold in her home, or she was allergic to the dog.  I knew that it was neither of those reasons, and I continued to keep a very close watch on her.  That night I dressed her in her pajamas that I had brought from home and laid her on her car seat; she was fine through the night.  The next morning when my Mom changed her clothes and dressed her in an outfit that my Mom had washed; a few hours later she was having an allergic reaction.

As we went to the hospital, and I told the Doctor I thought it was the clothes and detergent, he tested a pair of pants with the other detergent on her, and a shirt with Dreft; within two hours her legs were flared with hives.  We discovered the problem, since then as she has grown up, I have tried to change her detergents; and to this day at 16 years old; she still breaks out in hives if she uses any other detergent on her clothes.
20160511_002057
This means that every single blanket, pillow, stuffed animal, and couch cushion in our home, has to be washed with Dreft detergent.  When Spring arrives and we spring clean the house, every single item has to be washed in Dreft, since she cuddles with everyone; and as we shampoo the rugs and carpets we have to use Dreft as well.  In a way it has been a lot of work because we always have to be very vigilant when her Family and friends visit, she can’t hug or cuddle with them unless they are wearing something washed with her detergent, but at the same time; I love that at 16 years old; she still has the wonderful baby smell.

As we are preparing for our Spring and Summer activities, we have washed all of our picnic bedding, beach towels, as well as sports bags and her Spring and Summer wardrobe.
#DreftSpring Dreft Detergent
It’s always a big chore, but the smell throughout my house of a new baby, makes it all worth it.  Dreft is the only detergent we are allowed to use at home.  Maybe she will outgrow her allergies one day, maybe she won’t, until and if that happens; we will be using Dreft detergent in our home.

Dr. Dyan Hes Talking Points:
  • Spring is here, temperatures are on the rise and after a long winter indoors, parents and little ones are spending more and more time outside.
  • But while the weather is delightful, the spring season brings more allergens to the air and rising temperatures can trigger skin irritations for little ones. With all this in mind, it’s important that parents seek out products that are gentle on baby’s sensitive skin.
  • As a pediatrician AND as a mother myself, I know that cleaning your little one’s clothes in a gentle, hypoallergenic product, like Dreft, is a great way to help keep baby comfortable during the spring season.
  • Dreft is the No. 1 baby laundry detergent choice of pediatricians to be gentle and hypoallergenic on baby’s skin. Trusted for over 80 years, Dreft comes with a baby scent beloved by moms, and it remains safe and hypoallergenic for baby.

#dreftspring Dreft detergent
As a Mother of 6, I have seen my fair share of allergic reactions from the kids, and  I am happy that at least this one has a pleasant outcome and a wonderful scent.  The fact that this detergent is a hypoallergenic product, was recommended by her Pediatrician, is rated as the #1 baby detergent by Pediatricians, AND is gentle on her skin; makes for an amazing product in out home.
Scent is a powerful memory trigger, and the memories it brings when I smell her “baby detergent” are beautiful; they remind me of a tiny baby in my arms.

This is our “baby” throughout the house, if the cushions weren’t washed with Dreft; she wouldn’t be able to sit in any of them…

Looking for Something Specific?

Hi!
Welcome to our little world!
My name is Lily, I am a Mommy to 6 kids; and wife to a US Navy Sailor of 15 years. We are a typical Family trying to live the American dream, and though my son’s Autism and my Husband’s PTSD and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) sometimes try to dampen our mood; we try our hardest to push through it and keep on movin’!

I absolutely LOVE blogging, sharing our life, and our adventures; whether good or not so good.

Our Family went through what WE hope is the worst week ever a year and a half ago, and tragedies continued to hit our Family for a while.
In 4 days, our car was totaled, our house broken into, and our house caught on fire. We are literally having to start over from scratch.
