7 Tips for Less Chaos at Home
With work, bills, responsibility, kids, and activities, life can get a little chaotic from time to time. Chaos at home can cause more stress and anxiety on top of what you already have. I know first hand how day to day life can keep me from being as productive as I need to be. When life gets chaotic, these 7 tips for less chaos at home will help:
7 Tips for Less Chaos at Home
Set Bedtimes: I can’t stress enough how valuable sleep is to keep your life less chaotic. When you lack sleep, you lack the motivation to do the things that need to be done, you get frustrated easier, and life seems more chaotic than it actually is. Set bedtimes for yourself and the kids and stick to them. It is important to have a little relaxation time, so set the kid’s bedtime, at least, an hour before you go to bed. If you want to be in bed by 10 P.M., try to get the kids to bed by 8:30-9P.M. The more you follow this pattern, the easier it will be to get your kids to sleep and for you to fall asleep as well.
Wake Up Before the Kids: Give yourself at least 8 hours of sleep per night, but try to get up before your kids do. This gives you time to wake up, get a few things done before the house gets crazy, and enjoy a 5-minute cup of coffee. This is, also, a great time to get a load of laundry done, the dishes washed, or a few things for work was done.

Get on a Schedule with your Kids: It can be challenging to stay on a schedule, but the closer you follow a routine, the better behaved your kids will be and the less chaotic the house will be. Set specific times for breakfast, lunch, nap, HW time etc. If your kids know exactly what they are going to be doing and when you won’t have as much chaos.

Make a Chore Chart: If your kids can figure out a computer, TV, or iPad, they can definitely learn to do chores around the house. Make a household chore chart that goes along with your schedule. Schedule a set time of the day that everyone does a chore from the chore chart. Whether it is picking up toys, sweeping the floor, or dusting with a Clorox wipe, there is a little something each member of the household can do. Give rewards or allowance for chores done and remind your kids when chore time is each day. Soon they will know how to do it without being asked. Set Goals: If your house is in shambles and you don’t even know where to start, set goals for yourself. Small steps each day can make the process of life go smoother. Instead of implementing everything all at once, set a goal that by the end of the month everyone will have a bedtime set. In two months you will wake up before the kids, and continue to add a little more at a time.
Have a Reward System: Create a reward system for both yourself and your kids. When your kids do their chores all week, reward them with a movie, allowance, or something they love to encourage that positive work ethic. If you can accomplish one of your goals for the week or month, reward yourself with a night out, a massage, or something you enjoy.

Remember to Breath: Just breath. Take time for you to meditate, pray, recoup from the stresses of life. If at first you don’t succeed at making small changes towards less chaos, just keep trying.

Love the idea of a chore chart! It’s good to get the kids involved in maintaining the house. It also teaches them discipline which in return causes them to do less chaotic things, like making a mess out of every room in the house.

My thoughts exactly! It teaches responsibility. I saw a post that said if your kids can use a computer, Ipad etc, they can use a broom, vacuum, etc…
